In our relentless efforts to entertain you, The Huxley will soon bring you live music too! On the first Sunday of every month starting from Sunday 2nd March, a chap called Declan is going to come and sing a few tunes for us to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Just to whet your whistle, click the play button on the video below and listen to his rendition of Sting’s ‘Shape of my Heart’, while you learn a wee bit more about the man himself:
Where are you from?
Northern Ireland
When did you start playing music?
My mother is a singer and a singing coach so I started young. I started playing the harp when I was 10 and eventually studied music at Strathclyde University. It was there that I discovered Dave Matthews, John Mayer and Martin Guitars- which are the best!
What is your favourite song of all time?
When I was growing up Frank Sinatra was always on in the background and I have been a huge fan ever since so my favourite song is probably his version of Leroy Brown.
What are your 3 desert island discs?
Sinatra’s ‘Greatest Hits’, John Mayer ‘Any Given Thursday’ and Led Zepplin ‘II’.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you during a gig?
One time I was accosted in the middle of a gig by a group of ‘tipsy’ girls and dragged into a Private Dining room to sing for their friend on her birthday. I’m not sure who was more embarrassed, me or the birthday girl!
He’s a lovely fella and he holds a tune pretty well too! Come down on Sunday 2nd March to see for yourself. No accosting though…our Private Dining room will be out of bounds!
